Major Robert H. Jennings Jr. husband of the former Miss Charlotte Walker of Center Point, was recently awarded an Oak Leaf Cluster with V-device for the Air Medal he already held.Major Jennings, now stationed at Fort Ord, California, Combat Developments Command Experimentation Center nearMonterey, was decorated for heroism in aerial flight over Viet Nam, from which he returned a few months ago.The major was aircraft commander of a helicopter on a medical evacuation mission in Viet Nam in November 1964 when he made a second and successful attempt at rescuing personnel under heavy enemy fire. Both he and the pilot were injured in the rescue, but the wounded were safely evacuated.Mrs. Jennings is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Pir.ckney Walker Jr., and the grand-daughter of Mrs. George P. Walker, all of Center Point.
