Janikowski, 927 East Broadway, from Rear Admiral C. W. Nimitz.No details regarding how their son was wounded or the extent of his injuries were received by Mr. and Mrs. Janikowski. They were asked by Admiral Nimitz not to divulge the name of their son's ship or his station.The Janikowskis have not heard from their spn for two months but he is believed “somewhere in the Pacific.'1 He will complete two years in the navy next month.The message received by Mr. and Mrs. Janikowski is as follows: “The Navy department deeply regrets to inform you that your son, Edward Joseph Janikowski, coxswain, U.S.N,, has been wounded in action in the performance of his duty and in the service of his country. The department appreciates your great anxiety and will furnish you further information promptly when received. To prevent possible aid to our enemies, please do not divulge the name of his ship or station.Another son of Mr. and Mrs. Janikowski, Lawrence P. Janikowski, was among the young men of the Winona area who enlisted in the .United States navy December 16 and have gone to Great Lakes Training station.Admiral 0. W. Nimitz signed the message to Mr. and Mrs. Janikowski as chief of the bureau of navigation of the Navy department.
