December 15th—The Real Oame Gets GoingThe jig-saw puzzle was completed December 7th—and the last piece dropped In place when the Japs attacked Hawaii.The picture is now complete and no longer requires any guess work.The picture is world wide and shows the United States in the center between the European and Asiatic wars.Washington becomes a world center for the war and for the peace —when it comes.The cheering news Is that the Russian Army, which Hitler claimed was destroyed many weeks ago, is now chasing the German Army back along the 2,000 mile front over which it had advanced at such frightful cost.The destruction of German prestige for “invincibility” is almost as important as the defeat itself.In North Africa the British are surely, even if slowly, strangling the Nazis and Italians.In the Pacific where the Japs were poised and got the “jump” on the Whites, the situation is yet too early to clarify.Rut of the ultimate result there can be no shadow of doubt.The Japs are desperate, fanatical fighters who will be crushed only by superiority of weapons and by their lack of many things—chiefly oil.Here at home, a united America wakes—realizes at least that murderers and gangsters threaten us as well as the puny nations of Europe . and Asia—wakes to work and fight. ,‘Hard and steep though the road may be America marches unafraid.The Giant Champion of Freedom's causeWill guard that which her Birth-• right made.”
