F. Goodwin Sails For MediterraneanUSS AMERICA (Special to The Review) - - -Airman Apprentice Frank M. Goodman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank E, Goodman of 2504 Avenue F, Nederland, Texas, has departed Norfolk, Va., aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS America for her first deployment with the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean.America, the United States’ newest carrier, will form the nucleus of one of the Sixth F leet’s two fast carrier striking groups. The Sixth Fleet operates completely independent of shore bases, getting its entire support from seagoing service units, including supply, ammunition and repair ships.During her deployment, America will visit several Mediterranean port cities in F ranee, Spain, Italy and other countries.
