LETTER FROM PVT. BENNIE SIEGELNov. 12, 1943Dear Parents:Must answer your letter which 1 have received frc you the other day. 1 was in-eed very glad to hear fro you again. When one receives a letter from home it makes one feel much better as though if he was home that moment. How are you getting along lese nice cool autumn day am doing fine and hope this nds you all the same. The other day we just came back from a three wee] of maneuver in Arizona. We ere maneuvering in the Ari zona region. The terrain fe tures there are the same as they are here in Camp Granite Calif. The only difference from this place is there are me Gold Mines in the hi! des, otherwise it is the same by mountains and plenty of sand and dust. ^Yesterday I received a letter from Fred, surely was glad to hear from him. He wrote and said that he is feeling tops, only that he gets lonesome at times. He wrote that he would like to come home in a short time again and see all the boys and parents. This month on the 17, is a year agq since I have seen him last. I haven’t seen the other brothers in a long time either, they are all too far away from me. Johnnie is at Ft. Sill, Okla. Charlie is on Matagorda Island and Fred is someplace in the North Pacific area. Maybe won’t be long and Laddie is going to be in the service also, then that will make all of us in the army. Think ne month he has to register, he will become eighteen years c age, subject to be drafted. You Mom and Dad can be proud of us all serving our country not being as yellow as some of the boys down home are.Think this is about all for today, it is getting near nightand I have no light to write by, so I must close for this time. Here’s wishing you the best of everything, I remain,Your son,Bennie
