BrownRetirement ceremonies were conducted at West Texas State University Thursday for Sergeant Major Dailey D. Brown.Sergeant Major Brown is a veteran of over twenty years service. His military career began on the 29th of November, 1950. He hasserved in numerous overseas assignments, such as Germany and Viet Nam where he was the operations sergeant for the 196th Light Infantry Brigade.He has been assigned to the Department of Miliary Science, WTSU, as the senior enlisted instructor since July 1967. The Sergeant Major’s decorations include theNATO Ribbon, Army Occupation Medal—Germany,National Defense Service Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the Bronze Star.At the retirement cere mony, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal by Lieutenant Colonel John O. Childs, Professor of Military Science.Sergeant Major Brown,his wife Velesta, and their two children, Mitchell and Michael, presently reside in Amarillo at 2813 S. Nelson. He plans to move to Odessa after his retirement to become an instructor in the Junior ROTC program inthe high school system there.
