To the Ecu .or:I am stationed in the Republic of South Vietnam with the 147th Light Equipment Maintenance Company (GS). As Christmas approaches, our company is trying to sponsor the Da-Minh Orphanage. There are approximately 150 children ranging from the ages of three months to 15 years. Da-Minh Orphanage receives approximately two cents tor each child per day as support from the South Vietnam government. As you can see, they are in desperate need of heip. The soldiers from the 147th LEM Co. are trying desperately to give the children something for their Christmas. They are children like yours and mine but due to environment and a nation in conflict, they live a life of misery. We would like to ease that misery if only for a short time.Toys and children's clothing are very difficult to come by in Vietnam. For this reason only we ask your assistance. If you would ask the people of our fine town and free nation to send a small gift of: Light weight summer clothing, pajamas, toilet articles, shoes, and/ or a toy to one of the very needy children, our appreciation would be immeasurable. If they would identify the gift as to sex and age of the intended child and mail it to me at the address below, I will assure them that the gifts will be delivered, even if received after Christmas.I live at Baxter and graduated from Loyall High School in 1955. Any support that can be given to us would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and trouble.SFC GARY DAUGHERTY406-44—8101147th LEM Co (GS) APO 96491
