A Purple Heart medal was awarded posthumously here Saturday for Sgt. Kenneth K. Mallonee, 23, who was killed in action in Vietnam on Oct. 3. Capt. W. L. Batzlaff Jr., of Burlington, with the Fifth U.S. Army Advisory Group, left, presented the award to Sgt. Mallonee's widow, Mrs. Mary A. Mallonee, and their three and a half year old twin sons, James A. (Jimmy), left, and Kaymond L. (Hay), right. The ceremony was held at their home, 1820 Richmond Ave, Sgt. .Mallonee had entered the Army in 1982 and served in Germany, Panama and Vietnam. (Courier Photo).ainilv
