MANILA ATTACKED — In various air raids on Manila by Japanese bombers, fortress defending Manila Bay was attacked, but no serious damage was done. Above is the bay with part of flotilla of 16 destroyers resting in it. It was in Manila Bay that Admiral George Dewey won famous victory over Spanish fleet, in Spanish-American V/ar of 1878.ATTACKED BY JAPANESE—For week previously, Pacific bases had expected attacks by Japanese and were ready. Brown air raiders, however, succeeded in destroying many planes, according to report, on Hickam Field, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, view of which it above. Pearl Harbor is huge naval base. U. S. fleet was reported striking back at Japanese.
