Posthumous AwardPurple Heart ToSergeant’s WidowPosthumous award of the Purple Heart medal for an Ottumwan killed in action in Viet Nam will take placeSaturday afternoon.Capt. Walter Batzlaff of Burlington intends to make theaward to the widow of Sgt. Kenneth E. Mallonee, 23, whodied early in October. The ceremony is planned at her homeat 1820 Richmond Ave.Mrs. Mallonee is the former Mary Anne Rinehart.They were married in 1962, the same year he entered the Army. They have twin sons, Jimmy and Raymond, 3Va.Sergeant Mallonee was a native Ottumwan. His parents are Clarence Mallonee of 1309 W. Highland and Mrs. DeloresChurlin of Seattle, Wash.Captain Batzlaff, who will make the presentation, is a regular Army adviser to the 34th Division, Iowa National Guard.
