The National Guards. The Nation*! Guards were out Tuesday, on parade, in full uniform, attended* by. the Yaeger Band. They made a fine appearance and' are docidedjy a splendid company.^ They were drawn up on Second street, and were taken, we mean in daguerreotype, by our nocoropliflbe'd artist. G. L. • William* Esq.The Guards wore organised throe months ago, and this was thoir first appearance ex-oept «a noticed a few days since. They have been carefully drilled by .a regular United State* oScor, and buTe made unusual proficiency in the knowledge of military tactics. Their uniform is tho finest wo have crer seen, and their officors may well be proud of the position tboy occupy. Copt. Tcrsur, together with several others, bns doroted much time, labor and expense to the formation of tbia company of oitixen soldiers, and well deserves, is wo have no doubt he will receive, the thanki of our poople. While wo do not object to the organization of Military companies by our adopted citizens, we think it highly laudable and necessary, that a part of our independent military companies should consist of men born on our sail. It is a shame to American cities that their military companies have heretofore consisted almost entirely of adopted oitizons. Mon eloimlng to be freemen, who make no claim to tlio right, at least, to participate in defending and governing their country, do notdeserve the name. Success to the National%Guards I!
