Planes CollideOver StocktonTRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE OP) —A four-engined air force transport and a navy training plane collided 6000 feet over Stockton yesterday, but both planes returned to base safely.The two planes brushed together in clear weather. The air force plane, carrying a crew of five, suffered a damaged propeller and gashed fuselage. Hie navy plane, a two-engined Beeehcraft ' trainer, with three xnen aboard, had: part of its tail assembly torn away.An air force spokesman said the transport, a C-54' Skymaster, was returning to Brooks air force base in Texas from Travis on a routine training flight; Navy officials said the Beecheraft was on an instrument training flight.Cause of the collision has not been determined. The crew of each plane said the other craft smashed into its plane.The C-54 returned to Travis after the accident and landed without incident. The navy plane reported, difficulty in maneuvering due to the loss of one of its double rudders, but it landed safely at the Alameda naval air station.Officials listed the pilots as Capt, Leslie E.
