N. G„ has been nominated by Governor Young as a candidate to West Point Military Academy next July. Maurice Rouble, 19, 140 Lake street, was named as alternate.Stearns is now a junior at Stanford and is prominent in student I military affairs. He Is the son ofi Mrs- Charles Stearns, of Palo Alto and the late Major Stearns of the army medical corps.Stearns received the appointment following a competitive examination among national guardsmen, in which he emerged with the highest rating.
