Richard B ^Donnewald of Maplewood, mTose family has been notified that he is held prisoner by the Japanese, took his primary flight training at the Army Air Force Training Detachment here No word had come from hrm since tfcu* full off Bataan last April.Lieutenant Donnewald's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Leo R Donnewald, Maplewood, were informrn by the War Department he is interned at a university on Luzon He is an Army Air Corps pilot.Mrs. Donnewald said he had informed them in a letter written in March Ik* had been recommended for the Distinguished Service , Cross for courageous action outside the line of duty in ferrying medical supplies from Java to an hAmerican garrison at Luzon.1 He was captured while making one of these volunteer flights. Mrs. Donnewald said she had been 1 informed by the War Department.Lieutenant Donnewald. who is 24. is a graduate of MaplewoodHigh School and Cape GirardeauTeachers College.
