DAILY, TR1-WEEK.LY, AIID WEEELTBILL, COOKE JOHNSON Profrmtoes.THURSDAY MORNING, AUG. 29, 1861.TO THE PEOPLE OF ERIE COIETY.The undersigned, citizens of Erie County, deeply sensible of the dangers now hanging over our National Government, and impressed with the conviction that they can only beaverted by the united action of the wholepeople, in whioh patriotism shall take the place of party spirit, respectfully and earnestly call upon all loyal citizens of Erie C oun-ty who are in favor of the maintenance of the Government, and of the vigorous and con-now being car-tinued prosecution of the war iried on for the suppression of the Rebellion ogainst the Government, to meet in Mass Convention at Sandusky, on the 31st day of August iijst, at 1 o'olock P. M., to appoint delegates to represent this county in a UNIONSTATE CONVENTION, to be held at Columbus on the 6th of September next; and to adopt such further measures to secure the united co-operation of all loyal citizens of Erie County in the approaching election, asmav be deemed expedient.Fellow Citizens of Erie County:—Our country is engaged in a struggle which involves our national existence. Our sons and our brothers, upon many a battle-field, are pouring out their blood and freely offering up their lives to preserve our national unity, and in defenseof constitutional liberty.
