MAKES REPORT ON MEETING HELDI MRS. ED. HOUSTON DELEGATEAT U. D. C. CON-VENTIONMembers of the Stephen R. Mallory Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, will be interested j in the report of the convention re-■ cently held in Leesburg, and which was attended by Mrs. Ed. Houston of this city, who went as delegate from th’s chapter.According to the report of Mrs. Norris, Miss Will Eva Caruthers, president of the Tampa Children of the Confederacy was elected registrar of the Children of the Confederacy of Florida division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.Mrs. Norris also reported thatnew chapters have been organized during the past year at Jacksonville, High Springs and Fort Pierce, and that the total membership of the division is now 2,267, an increase of 347 members. She also stated that the division is supporting 16 scholarships, four more than it had two years ago.The medal offered by the division for the best historical essay on “Jefferson Davis, the American” was jawarded to Miss Hanna Schell, of the Florida State College for Women. Miss Florence McKay, of Rollins College, daughter of Prof. and Mrs. McKay, formerly of this city, received honorable mention.The president and vice presidentof the division retain their posr$tfns until the next convention, which will be held in West Palm Beach in May j of next year.
