Comdr. Fleshmcm Retires Monday At NATTC FeteComdr. Wilfred E. Fleshman,former commanding officer of Naval Air Technical Training Center, is due to retire from the Navol service in ceremonies at the Center's Administration building at MOO next Monday.Comdr. Fleshman’s career began over 32 years ago. when he reported to Naval Training Station. San Diego. Calif., for recruit training. From there, he attended Radioman School.He completed flight training at Pensacola in 1930 and was designated an enlisted pilot A notable accomplishment of Comdr. Fleshman was the last landing made on the USS Langley in 1936 When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in December 1941. he wasassigned the task of seeking out hostile Japanese sea forces in an unarmed Beochcraft.It was in 1941 that he was designated a Naval Aviator, and was commissioned a Lieutenant in 1944.He reported to the Center from the USS Corregidor in 1956 where he served as executive officer.Among his awards, he holds the Bronze Star. Good Conduct Medal with one star. American Defense with star. Asiatic-Pacific Aren. American Area. World War II Victory Medal, and NationalDefense Medal.Comdr. Fleshman and his wife will reside in Mandarin, Fla. upon retirement.
