Judge Vanderpoel took occasion to remark that it was now notorious that there were a number of persons in this city, who had made it a business to become bail for persons charged with offen ces against the State laws, for a compensation; he would therefore feel it his duty in every case of the sert, that came before him, to institute the most rigid inquiry into the character and solvency of the persons so offering themselves as such securities.
