JAPANESE-AMERltAN SOLDIERS DIE IN ITALYDuring the month of July, 26Japanese-American soldiers whose parents reside in War Relocation Centers were reported killed and many more were reported wounded, said Robert B. Coezens, assistant director of the War Relocation Authority today.The war came home to residents in these centers last month as parents were notified by the War Department of casualties sustained by their sons fighting in Italy. Most of the casualties were among the 1300 who volunteered last year for military service from War Relocation Centers. They are a part of the 12,000 Japanese-Americans whoare now in the armed forces ol theUnited States, Cozzens added.The soldiers reported killed were members of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team organized in January, 1943. by a special War Departmentorder. This team which was made up entirely ol Japanese-American volunteers, about 5000 from Hawaii and 1300 from Relocation Center, trained at Camp Shelby, Miss.
