The office of Major of the Regiment now going into rendezvous at this City is to be filled. That of the Col. perhaps is arranged before this time, while the Lieutenant Col. probably will be conferred on some worthy gentleman of another part of the Dist. And now as the office Major is the subject of consideration, it will ozeet, as we know, with the entire approbation of volunteers, commissioned officers and citizens,.if Cpt O.D Hurd shall be commissioned Major of the Regiment. He is a citizen of longTci-dence here, a worthy mechanic, highly respected Ia all the walks of life, has been in active service, ii captain of the first Company forme ' here on the late call, the first to go into Camp, afid thus the Senior Captain.
