Shell Killed Juda Man. MyronNowThe body of Sgt. Myron E. Newman son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore E. Newman, route 1, Juda. was scheduled to be landed at San Francisco today after being brought from Japan aboard the S. S. Lorn a Victory. He was killed in Korea action June 29.The ship, bearing the bodies of 223 Korean war dead, was scheduled to dock at San Francisco this morning, the bodies to be sent to either New York City or San Francisco centers, then to be brought home under military escort.Mr. and Mrs. Newman have received letters of condolence signed by President Truman, General Mark W. Clark and Lt. Col. Joseph C. Sandlin, commanding officer of the 179th Infantry Regiment.The Newmans also have received a scroll notifying them of theS)sthumous award of the Purpleeart to their son.Col. Sandlin, in a personal letter to the Newmans, wrote that Sgt. Newman was occupying an assigned defensive post on an advanced outpost near Changgungol, Korea. June 29, 19S2, as a member of Co. L, 179th Infantry Regiment, when the enemy used an artillery andmortar barrage prior to an attack. An enemy shell landed near Sgt.SGT. M. E.
