REEDER UNIT ‘COMMENDED’Commendations for excellence in bombing during Ninth air force preinvasion attacks and subsequent operations in support of ground forces have been received by a medium bomber group of which First Lieutenant Owen Reeder, Falkville, is a member, according to word from an air force bomber base in Europe,A veteran of more than 50 combat missions over Europe, Lieutenant Reeder is pilot of the B-28 “Victory Road with Colonel Thomas B. Halls target busting Marauder group which has distinguished itself with an outstanding bombing accuracy record in the European theatre of operations.Lieutenant Reeder participated in pre-invasion attacks wjuch aided in paving the way for Allied landings on the continent and current operations in support of ground troops have been credited with assisting the Allies to make steady progress in Normandy. His unit has been officially commended several times for its pin point precision bombing of enemy strong points, marshalling yards, bridges and gun positions.Before entering the service in October, 1942. Lieutenant Reeder was an assistant county agent for the Alabama Extension Service.
