HILL, Va. -The 728th Maintenance Battalion was one of the best units of the 28th Infantry Division here Tuesday, according to the rating sheets of the Regular Army Advisors.The battalion, commanded by Lt. Col. William Greiner, Jr. of Mackeyville, received 39 “superior1 ’ ratings in 44 inspections, as the evaluations checked and re-checked every phase of the unit’s training activities.The 728th Battalion is attending its annual two-week ■summer infield training with •the 28th Infantry Division at this camp. Its duties this year are even more complex than in other years since the division is conducting the largest camp in its history — with 11,000 officers and men training here and at Camp Pickett, some 75 miles to the southwest.During the division's training exercises, evaluators are assigned by the second U.S. Army to inspect training in the minutest detail. Ratings are based on a four point scale: Superior, excellent, satisfactory and unsatisfactory. On that scale the39 “superiors” scored by the 728th Maintenance Battalion borders on the phenomenal.Maj. Donald A. Zimmerman of Mill Hall, full time administrative service technician for the local units in home station reports that the battalion has almost 400 officers at the sum-mer Cctnrp. The battalion is di-vided into the headquarters company, based at Lock Haven, and five field companies, one of which, Company E, an aircraft maintenance company commanded by Capt. Daniel R. Evans of New Cumberland, is attached to the 28fch Aviation Battalion with headquarters at the new Harrisburg-York StateAirport.The other companies are: amain support company, Co. A of Lock Haven commanded by Capt. Gerald G. Zimmerman of Flemington and three forward support companies, Co. B, Bradford commanded by Lt. Ellsworth A. Shade of Bradford, Co. C, of Ridgway commanded by Capt. Donald J. Robinson of Ridgway and Co. D of Kane commanded by Capt.-Loyr S.
