He was a near neighbor lt;as then considered,) of my uncle Theopluhs Crawford, three miles distant, and I jofen heard him speak of his early life and of being in the Blackhawk war. He, was one ot tire prominent early settiers of Dubuque county. The last time I ever saw him was 63 years ago.
