Co. H occupied a passenger and baggage coach that was attached to the morning train on the Milwaukee road. They were taken to Madison where they were joined by the Madison, Beloit and Whitewater companies and were taken to Camp Douglas by special train, They will probably be the last of the First regiment companies to arrive at camp.The soldiers were up and astir early this morning. They were ordered to report at the armory at 7:30 and be in readiness to leave at 8:38. They were seen about the streets in full uniform long before the bugle called them together at the armory. Here they wore busy looking after the details and the company left the armory with little time to spare. They made a quick march to the depot and soon established thomselvos in the cars.Major D. A. Stearns was out with his mount and accompanied the men to the depot, and Joe It, Byers, first battalion Horgemt major, marched with the men.The soldiers were in gay spirits, aud ►r were a happy lot Their new uniforms were conspicuously noticeable, making a very showy appearance, Tko mou looked their best and everyone who saw them had a compliment for their attraotiveuess and soldierly beariniz.qusetcamp. Twothirda of the men took it upon themselves to bury the other third in the straw galore about the stables. Men rebunting to the camp with full ticks always managed to trip some unwary ones into the midst of them, Register of Deeds Lewis proved to he a hustler in tilling ticks. He said his experience in threshing was of great benefit to him in an emerguey of that kind.Quarter in aster Hoesley was on the spot with the least possible delay looking after the ration supply and to see that the company cook waa properly instructed as to his work of preparing the first meal which was being made ready as the men were arranging the ticks in their tents. Each of the large conical wall touts is designed to hold sixteen men, and care had to be taken in the arrangement of the tent for the first night Afterwards the matter willadjust itself.Guard mount was held at the time scheduled for parade aud tho guard posted at once. The troops then formed for parade aud in spite of the long hard ride they had undergone made a spleu-did showing.
