A Correction. Some one sent me a Journal, for which I am thankful. I notice in your “Fifty years ago” article a mistake is surely made, which I hope you will correct. The last five lines in said article reads as follows: “A list of the members of the 8th Ind. Vol. lnfty who participated in the battle of Rich mountain, was in this issue; of that number only two are living, Jeff Bush and Freel Colgrove.’’ I was in that battle, and wounded, and was the first man wounded from Randolph county. Sam Williams was wounded ten minutes after I was. He enlisted from Jay county. Now as to Jeff Bush and Freel Colgrove being the only two now living, who were in Company E. arid in that battle, will say that i am a live one” yet, and if you dont believe it, write to Charlie Watson. P. M.f Perry, Okla. As a matter of fact, there was onlv five companies of the 8th in the battle, but members of the remaining five companies were allowed to volunteer to fill up the companies that were detailed to go into the fight, and my recollection now is that Company E was not one of the Companies detailed and all who marched around the nine miles, and come in South of the Fort, from Company E. joined Company K, Capt. Rube Riley. S. P. Strahan,Perry Okla.(The name of Mr. Strahan appeared in the list of participants in the Rich Mountain battle as printed by the Journal fifty years ago, hut was unintentionally omitted in our recent article; thus Mr. Strahan's statement is correct.—Publishers Journal.)
