Gray, commanding officer of the USS Kearsarge.Enroute to Formosa where the ship will dock she has seen Tokyo, and in Hong Kong for four days with her husband, was entertained at the Government House.To friends in the states she writes that because Hong Kong is suffering the severest water shortage the Colony ever has known, she “showers aboard ship.*1The water is turned on one hour per day, between 7 and 8p.m. in the hotel where she stays, and this information is posted: Use water sparingly and above all don’t waste. If the hotel staff has filled your bath, don’t pull the plug out whether you have used it or not.
