Cadiet Stephen E. Couchman, 21,son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Couchman, RR 22 is attending the army reserve officers’ training corps ranger camp at Ft. Benning, Ga.During the grueling eight-week course, he will learn and practice basic ranger skills, such as land navigation, patrolling and mountaineering. The training, which is a substitute for the normal ROTC summer camp required of all cadets before commissioning, concludes with a two-week counterguerrial operation in the coastal swamps of northwest Florida. Graduates of the camp will be awarded the yellow and black shoulder tab worn by all rangers.A student at Indiana State University, Cadet Couchman is scheduled to complete the training on August 31.He is a 1999 graduate of Honey Creek high school.
