Clifford McGregor, 28. wm killed in action in the battle of Saipan j on June 27. 1314. was the message I received by ins parents. Mr. and Mrs. Asa McGregor of Lexington. IPfc. McGregor was employed at the U. S. Marine Hospital in Galveston. as an attendant before entering the service Dec. 4th 1941. He was received in the service at Gamp Walter. and was sent to Camp Barkley *r. December 22nd. Two weeks later wastransferred to Fort Ord. Calif., am. from there to Hawaiian Islands where he remained until the invasionsof the Gilberts, Marshalls and Sal-pan. ,Ho snw service in each of thefwinvasions and returned to the Hawaiian each time after the first twomissions.He reported to his parents that hesient most of his time in the x-raytents as he was member of the 102mlMedical Batallion attached to the27th Division composed of NationalGuardsmen from New York and NewJ ^|*jscv.The first letter from him stated that he was OK which was written on June 10th, and received July 11th some days after his death.He served all the two and a halt years he was across and was never furloughed since entering the service.Surviving are his parents, three sisters and one brother.
