Detrick, where he serves as a Technical Assistant.Prior to entering the service he was the Assistant Manager of the Wabash Valley Service Com pany, Ridgway.Selection of Soldier of the Month is based on personal appearance, military bearing, knowledge of current events, and other specialized military subjects.About 350 enlisted men at Ft. Detrick are eligible to compete. A nominee to the Post Board must first have received the honor in his respective unit.After being named Unit Soldier of the Month, the soldier appears before a Board of Senior Non-Commissioned Officers who represent units and activities on the entire installation.During the award ceremony, which is piesided over by the Commander of Ft. Detrick, Specialist Lutz will receive a $25 Savings Bond, a certificate for two free meals at the Frederick Holiday Inn, and recommendation to his commander for a rarely issued three day iniddle-of-the-week pass.
