Memorial Service For Set. Crisman, Near BrunswickBRUNSWICK, MO.. Aug-. 8— The memory of Sgt. Everest K-Crisman, . 27i who was killed in action July 6 in France, was honored Sunday evening- when special services were conducted at the Zion Methodist church in his home neighborhood. northeast of Brunswick. under the direction of the Rucker McAllister Post of the American Legion. The Rev. H. P. An glen of Triplett, pastor of the ' church, and the Rev, A. B. - Miner of Wheeling, a former pastor, wej-e in charge of the semi \ which were attended by a large ; number of relatives and friends.,The services were opened by I C. Ross Myers, acting for the | post ‘commander. Hurley Mauzey, i Prayer was offered by the post! chaplain, R. L. LaBonta,. and, j following: a brief tribute to Sgt. ; Crisman by Mr. Myers, the obit- i uary was read by the Rev. Mr. Angien. The memorial address was given by the Rev. Mr. Miner. IFollowing the address there I was a 30-seconcl period of silence ; followed by taps and the pledge ; of allegiance to the flag led by the chaplain.The sixteenth Chariton County youth to give his life in his country’s service in World War II, Sgt. Crisman entered service in. January, 1942. and he was serving in an infantry unit when he wa3 killed in Normandy, one month after D-Day.He was bom in the Zion com-; munity, January 25, 1917, tire son of Mr.. and Mrs. J- Morey Crisman, and was a life-long-resident of that neighborhood. He attended Brunswick. High School, where he starred in athletics, and was graduated in the Class of1935. As a boy he became a member of the Zion Church under the ministry of the Rev. Virgil Bittiker.Surviving Sgt. Crisman, besides his parents, are two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Donald Woodward, Keytesvjlle, Miss Edith i Crisman, Kansas City, and Billy Crisman, of the home; his grandmothers. Mrs. Minnie Knight and Mrs. Clara Crisman, and an aunt. Miss Nora Berringer, of Bruns-i wick.Mrs* Delmer Chase Dies; Survived by 2 Daughters HereMrs. Martha Moyer Chase. 65, of Hull, HI., mother of Mrs. Martha Davey arid Mrs.Louise Knapp, both of Moberly, died last Wednesday in Levering Hospital, Hannibal. and funeral services were held Friday in the Methodist church in Barry, 111.Mrs. Chase also is survived by her husband, Delmer Chase of Hull. 111., their home; sjx other children, Paul Chase of- GriggS-ville. Hi., Marshall Chase of Beverly, 111., Mrs. Marjorie Morgan. Miss Virginia Chase and Harold Chase, all of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Juanita Eowen of Hannibal; 10 grandchildren: four sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Anna Booth, Mrs. Jesse Niehol, Mrs.' Laura; Hazel rigg, Fioyd Moyer and Harry Moyer, all of Barry, and Mrs. Loren Harshman of Pittsfield.ENGAGEMENT OF PARISGIRL IS ANNOUNCEDPARIS. Mo., Aug.-S.—Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Thomson have an. rounced the engagement of their daughter, Jean, to Radioman A-A. C. John Wallace Patrick ot San Francisco. Cab Miss Thomson is now employed in St. Louis, She Is 3. graduate of Paris High School. The date for the wedding has not been set.
