Pangbom, Nelle Davlin, Viola Glaze, Clara Ahrens, Clara Davis, Clara Cady, and Lily Guyer.Objects and Aim of Club:1. Self improvement and promotion of the social welfare of members.2. To assist in all civic improvements of the community. Requirements for Membership:Any lady was eligible, a majority vote of members present was necessary for her election.President—Clara Davis Colors—Red, White and Blue Flower—The Golden Rod Motto—“We will mold the womanto a fuller day.Federated—1902.The Club remained active for 21 years then discontinued until 1926. Reorganized December 7, 1926. Name—Ladies Literary Circle Motto—What’s near, what’s noblelet’s do it.Colors—Pink and Green Flower—Pink Carnation Aim—Education for better living. Requirements for membership— Any lady may become a member by written application and pledging her allegiance to the rules and regulations, providing the membership does not exceed twenty-five. Her election to be made at the next regular meetng of the Circle.General Summary—Total .membership about 160. Largest membership 35, in 1919-20. Bought towels from Iowa blind women for 12 years. Held 22 guest days. Organized and sponsored first Junior Club in county. Meetings held every two weeks, beginning second Tuesday in September and ending last meeting in April.Programs—History, art, literature, travel and current topics.Course of study for 1940-41—“Nature’s Gifts and Problems.”A history of the Circle from 1398 to 1940 is being compiled by the Historical Committee, Mrs. J. J. Guyer, chairman; Mrs. J. G. Daum, Mrs. C. G. Pritchard and Mrs. E. E. Sapp.
