Coupled with this eagerness for active jji rvice is the fact that over seventy recuits have been enrolled in the regiimnt since Monday, nearly enoughto f.ll out the two new companies organized this week.Last night was practically the first| time that the citizens have had an opportunity of seeing for themselves : the work of the officers during the past few months, following a reorgani-1 zation of the regiment. At the post office they doubled back to the H. C. E. K. d^pot, after words continuing the march to Leopold Place and from thence to First street, Fourth avenue and up Sixth • street to the armourie .| All along the route of march a big crowd gathered to witness the scene, handclapping and waving of flag? coming from almost every doorstep, while at the street corners the jam was ko great as to make it dlfficuii to make the turn*-.Bugle Band Praiccd.At the arinorh s, with the companies in review order, Col. Taylor spoke a few words on the situation as it affects Canada. lie bestowed special praise on the bugle band atu’ also to the Chilliwack compani* who lived up to its past record by turning out at full strength and making the long trip by train to this city.The armories were literally jammed with spectators, and after announcing that enrollment for ac'ive service would be opened immediately after dismissal, Col. Taylor called for : three cheers for the king. The old drill shed shook from roof to basement as they were given.
