RANGERS TO PRESERVE ORDER AT CANYON IN TRIAL OF G. L. PAYNE(11} A Bloviated 1'reeaiCANYON. Te*., Aug. 6State rangers will be sent here for the trial on August 1st of G L. Pa ne for the slaying of J. Sweazy and Maud Rtppy on the court house steps at Crosby-ton, on May 14. Payne was previously wounded by some of the Rippy’s, Swsaiy'i relatives, it was charged. Sheriff W B Black requested that rangers be sent here as a precautionary measure
