Lowest Viet Toll in Six MonthsSAIGON lt;AP) - U.S. combal casualties in the Vietnam war droped to their lowest level in six months last week with 114Americans killed, 893 woundedand five missing, the U.S. Com*mand announced today.The command said 164 were killed and 1,442 wounded theweek before.But the sharpest decline last week was in the number ofSouth Vietnamese troops reported killed in action- 76 compared with 183 the week before.The number of Communists killed dropped to 1,393, the lowest since the week that ended .June 10, the U.S. Command said. But U.S. headquarters saidthe kill ratio of 6.8 to I for the allies last week was the highest this year and possibly one of the highest of the war.Another hullThe low' casualty figures reflected another relative lull inthe ground war and did not include the casualties in the disastrous fire aboard the earner Forrestal Saturday.A U.S. spokesman explainedthat it was not known yet whether these would be classified as combat or operational casualties since the fire and explosions began with an accident as the carrier was preparing to launchstrikes against North Vietnam.The Forrestal casualties increased to 131 dead today with the death of (wo injured men.
