Lieut. Robert Clark Killed In Action' Lieutenant Robert Frederick Clark, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman H. Clark of 1420 Market street, who was reported on June 12 by the War Department as missing in action since May 29, when he engaged in the strafing of a Nazi airfield at Banjaluka, Yugoslavia at an altitude of 50 feet, .ras kil ed in action, according to a telegram received from the War Department Wednesday afternoon.Following the receipt of the------telegram from the war department June 12 a letter dated June 8, written by Lucien A.Ladore, chaplain of the group of which Lieutenant Clark was a member, was received by the parents. The letter gave these facts of what had occurred:“On May 29 Lieutenant Clark with several others took off on a highly important escorting and strafing mission to the Balkans. While escorting the bombers our fighters met no opposition. But, during the low level strafing of ground targets on the return trip, they met intense accurate flak and mach-inegun fire. Lieutenant Clark’s plane was evidently hit, because immediately after strafing an airdrome at, an altitude of 50 to 100 feet, his right engine was (Continued On Page 8.)
