Jet Fighter4tCrashes AtPresqueiPRESQUE ISLE — Two crewmen walked away unharmed j yesterday after an F-89 jet fighter crashed while attempting a landing at Presque Isle Air Force Base.The men were identified as 1st Lts. Peter C. Maflei, the pilot, and Robert T. Collimore, the radar observer. Mallei is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter L. Maffei of Shrewsbury, N. J., and Collimore is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Collimore of Stratford, Conn.An Air Force spokesman said the plane carried rockets which did not explode. They said the 75th Fighter Squadron plane was!J cushioned by a clump of bushes jas it skidded about 100 feet between railroad tracks and a road.
