32nd ArmorRegiment ColorsFRANKFURT (Special) — 1. John C. Bahnsen Jr., 1st Bn, 32nd Armor commander at Friedberg, presented the 3rd Armd Div Spearhead Museum the 32nd Armor Regt’s original colors which date back in origin to Sept. 13, 1941.The colors which will hang in the museum were added to the historical files after Maj. Bruce Nilsen, former 1st Bn, 32nd Armor executive officer and now 2nd Brigade’s SI officer, presented the battalion with new colors.The original colors followed the 32nd Armor through World War II, their stay in the United States and were left in the safe keeping of the lst/32nd, one of the three battalions making up the regiment, when the unit was reassigned into the 3rd Armd Div in 1963.The 32nd was constituted Jan. 13, 1941, into the Regular Army and assigned to the 3rd Armd Division at Camp Beauregard, La. After intensive training in the United States until 1944, the unit was deployed with the Spearhead Division to England.From their initial landing in France, the unit moved to within 100 miles of Paris,. There the unit encountered heavy fighting all the way to the Belgium border, into Germany and until it came within 21 miles of the Russian Army which had just passed through Berlin. At that time the unit was relieved.Through the years, the regiment was reassigned until it was integrated into the 3rd Armd Div in its present form in 1963.At that time, the 32nd ArmoredRegt’s colors were left with 1st Bn -*toa Armor, wherftfi were kept until giveB t0 g Spearhead Museum.Old 32nd units which are now $ the Spearhead forces MRdude the 2nd Bn-I32nd Armor and Jrd Bn, 32nd Armor
