More Men toArmy Service3 Colored Men Leave Today; 7 To Go SaturdayThree Emporia colored men left Emporia this morning- for Leavenworth for a year of military' train- 1 ing. They are Edward Harold * Henderson. 927 Sylvan, the leader; lt;Dolan Kayhiil, 1019 Sylvan, and lt;Winfred Loree McCrary, 1125 Cot- * tonwood. A large crowd of cotcrcd | relatives and friends of the trainees were at the Santa Fe depot at 5 . o'clock this morning to bid the boys goodbye. Members of the Emporia 1J draft board who saw the men leave * were Roy J. Lenlherberry. sr., Walter Owens and Harry Glass. C7 LEAVE TOMORROW, ISeven more men were certified by \ the Lyon county draft board today c to entrain at the Santa Fe depot at 5 o’clock Saturday morning for Fort Leavenworth. one of them was transferred to the Emporia board from a draft board at Dond DuLac* WIs. He is Francisco V, Ramlres, a Mexican. qFive men were selected by the Lyon No, 1 board to take the place of July quota men, who were not called at the last minute because they were over 28 years old. The men to leave Saturday are: Marvin Paul Wittcman, Route 3, Emporia; Robert Fredrick Wasson, 109 Rural, who was picked by the board ifficlals as lender; Vincent Kelly, 524 State; Charles Nash. 928 State, and Radph Eugene Hill is, 1023 Neosho. Nash and Hillls are volunteers.Charles Pershing Bugbee. Route 4, Emporia, will fill the I-man early August quota of the Lyon No. 2 board and will accompany the Em-porians to Fort Leavenworth.TWO SAILORS REGISTER.Two new selective service registrants with the Emporia draft board arc Robert Lee Williams, 228 Cottonwood and Chester Emmett Thomas, 10 Constitution, Both recently completed terms of service in the United States navy, but they were required to register for possible additional military service.ItPShb;KS1K
