HOLD INTERESTING MEETINGPursuant to call issued, a well attended meeting was held last Saturday in the auditorium of the High school for former soldiers, sailors and marines who served during the WorldiWar and who now reside in Sequoyah county. The meeting was called primarily to ascertain the feelings and wishes of the soldiers of the countyrelative to the number of Post’s which♦shopld be organized in the county. The belief was strong in the minds ofplans to send a targe delegation to the convention. Fifteen paid up memberships is required before a post can be organized and secure recognition and a charter from the nation wide organization known as the American Legion.The meeting was called to order by Ray O. Weems of this city, who is district organizer: for the 2nd district and a statement was made by Him as to the purposes of the Legion and its future work. Upbn the statement being made that temporary officers should be chosen to preside at the meeting, Mr. Weems was named as temporary ^ Chairman and *Chas. O. Frye as temporary Secretary.Organization work is progressing by leaps and bounds throughout thestate and the nation and it is predict-• ■! ’ r ed that within six months every citym ^and town of any consequence in Oklahoma will have perfected organizations. Each Post, is permitted to choose its own name, but it is specifically provided that no Post shall be named for any living individual.
