This appointment follows a civil service examinationof some six weeks ago in whichrethere'were numberous applicants.Mr. Wootton has been assistantpostmaster since John A. Shapardestook charge of the postoffice overa year ago, and has proved himself the right man in the rightoplace. Always courteous, alwaysready to make an extra effort toaccommodate any patron of theoffice, never “cranky,” and everefficient, he has made good in thefull sense of the word, and hisappointment at this time to thepermanent position as made man-adatorv by the new civil servicelaw will be welcomed by all thepatrons of the office. It is iikewise interesting to know thatPostmaster Shapard is ■well
