Quayle, 24. son of Joseph L. and table II. Qua vie. 188 North Second West* Logan. reported missing In action over Europe.I*rivate Walter M. Smith. 21. son of Owen W. Smith, killed in action April 12 with the Third army in Germany.Prvate Le Roy F. Larsen. 19, son of Mrs. Rebecca Spring Lar-sen. killed in action on Luzon in the Philippine Islands.Sergeant Quayle was reported missing in action April '8 on Ills twenty-third mission over Europe as gunner-engineer on a heavy bomber.He was bom August 22. 1920 in Logan, graduated from Logan senior high school and attended Utah State Agricultural college two years. He was employed at Hill Field for throe years as propellor shop foreman before entering the air corps In January. 1943. Scr-geant Quayle has been overseas since November, 1944.Awaiting further word are his parents, three brothers. Lieutenant Joseph R. Quayle, Camp Fan-' nm. Texas; Galvin and DonaldI Quayle. of Logan, and five sist-II ers: Mrs. Betty Orchard. Roswell,! N. M.. Janet Quayle, cadet nurseat Sail Lake general hospital; Naomi. Paddy and Carol Quayle.F Lognri, und a grandmother, Mrs.J | Betty L. Quayle, of Logan, i, | Private Smith, who made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Orville I. Lee of Paradise for 12 years, was killed In action Aptll 12 with the Third army In Germany.He was born July 11. 1923 In Locan. a son of Owen W. and Stella Madsen Smith and moved to Paradise when his mother died in 1933. He graduated from South Cache high school in 1942 riici attended Utah State Agrlcul. turul college two quarters before entering the service in March. 1942. He was an elder in the Par-roise ward and was noted for his \ fine suigmg voice as a member of ,the US AC choir and army singing units.Survivors include Iris father and ono brother. Owen Smith Jr.Private Larsen was killed April 2 while lighting with an Infnntry unit on Luzon in the Philippines.He was bom May 5. 1925 in Providence, a son of Alma and Rebecca Spring Larsen and at tended South Cache Ingh school. After his father’s death he oper. atcd his family’s farm before entering the service August 8. 1944.
