Appointed Assistant Commissary on Gen. Gilmore’s Staff.Capt. John L Tibbs, one of Whitfield county’s most prominent and popular citizens and a leading Confederate Veteran, has been given the title of Major.He has just received a letter from Adjutant H. F. Lester of the Cavalry Brigade. Georgia Division informing him that General Gilmore desired that he should accept an appointment on his staff as assistant commissary with the rank of major.Major Tibbs, for such he now is, has accepted and will occupy his position during the Rome reunion this year.
