CONFICTING ORDERS(’apt. Docker returned Sundaymorning from Austin where he hadbeen in conference with the Adjutant General. The latter had given orders some time ago to enlist several companies of Texas marines, butthe war department a few days ago came to the conclusion they did not need so many, and politely informed the Quanah marines that their services would not he needed. This was a great disappointment to the boys,many of whom had given up good jobs to enlist, hut most of them decided to send for a naval recruiting officer and enlist anyway. Most of t the balance propose to join the cav-! airy.
