We are in the last lap of April and the entire month has been turbulentjust like Rex Ivey predicted. Howe ver pastures are in the best condition for this time of year that oldtimen have ever seen. Grass is greening and there is a good crop of weeds, in the weed areas. Stock wintered good and as the old story goes if we can just get some more rain everything will be fine.Talk of the area now is of the w i 1 d c at oil and gas well to be thilled at Marathon, on Section 25 Block 4, just one mile west of town. The (frilling rig is on the ground ready to be put up in working order. Many landownersin die Marathon Basin have leased to the oil companies with high hopes that this well will be aproducer. We are all hoping.. •Here and There-—Nice seeingMr. and Mis. Frank Lasater and their four chilcfren of Midland who were in Alpine on Friday, they were spending some time on their ranch in lower Big Bend, the former Hopson Ranch. Frank is delighted over the good rains and good feed that is on the ground.---AIso nice seeing Mrs.Ellis Owens of Marathon who was in Alpine on Friday, she said their ranch south of Marathon is in fine shape---and Mrs. Bessie Roberts also o f Marathon happy about the wildcat to be (frilled.Have you seen the wild flowers in lower Big Bend?
