letter from the 49th New York regiment, adds one to many romantic incidents of a similar nature conneofed with the present war. A few days ince, a corporal of the 2(th New York regiment, the camp of which ad- ’ joins that of the 49th, was taken 9iok, and bad to be placed in the regimental hospital, where, in the course of attendance upon the sick soldier, it was discovered that a female form bad been concealed under his corporal’s jacket and trowscrs. The woman had been with the regiment since it first entered the field two years ago, her sex never suspected. Of course there was lore at the bottom of the affair, but it detracts somewhat from the romance of the story to learn that the adventurous Amazon had been tenting all the time with her lover.
