There will now be added interest to the forthcomingRolling Ridge Country ciub on the Verkamp estate near Locust Corner. On April 10 a headstone was placed on the grave of Thomas Woods, who served in the Revolutionary War from 1776 to 1779. Shown placing the stone are (1. to r.) George and Rick Verkamp. and Emcrick Bradbury. A close-up of the headstone is shown below. According to Mrs. Richard Verkamp, the government furnished the stone at the request of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the descendants of Thomas Woods (Mrs. Mary Woods McCall, Mrs. Ethel R. Watson, Mrs. Hilda Johnson and Glenn Woods of Los Angeles, who located the old family graveyard). With the assistance of Mrs. J. R. Smith of Williamsburg and Mrs. Virginia Lipps of Amelia and other members of the D.A.R., permission was granted for the laying of the stone.” (Photo by Russell Shinkle)
