Ger-prison camp —many, and a reading between lines indicates that recent reports onthe starvation of prisoners were well founded. Their liberation occurred on March 28.Writing his mother on April 5. 1945. Pfc. Steadman said:Gee. it feels good to write as a free man again. I don't know if vou tolks received anv of the PW(prisoner of war' letters or not. Ijust came from the Red Cross truck and you would be surprised at how that American coffee tastes after four months It has been a little tough at times, but God seemed to be the inspiration for our waiting for the liberating parties. Those GTs really looked like heroes to us.1 am hopeful of being home soon as I hit the states, which I don't believe is far off.
