LEGION WANTS TALE BACK OFWHITING, April IS.— Whiting Post No. SO. American Legion, is trying to solve a grave mystery, and would appreciate any help in its endeavor to properly identify a memorial mounment in Oakhill cemetery, JTammond.Near the northeast corner on Lot No. !0. Section No. LI. stands a metal monument about five and one-halffeet high.. It has a picture of Abraham Lincoln on one jfedde, G. A. R. veterans’ badge on the opposite side and the flag of the United States on flic other two sides. Re-low the picture of Lincoln is inscribed, in letters about one and one-half inches high: '‘Greeted by the Whiting Memorial Association, May 30. 1005.The cemetery office has no record as to the owm-r of the lot, nor has it, any record of any grave, although it appears there have been bu rials.Whiting Post No. SO is vitally interested in this: lot and has been endeavoring to find the owner, but to date has mc-t with no success.
