Mr, and Mrs, Pate Lester of 1713 Brook, were notified this - morning of the death of them J son. Army Spec. 4.C. Jimmy -Don Lester. The 21-year-old ] soldier was killed April 15, nearthe Cambodian border.:j He entered the service m ’ January 1968 and had been in Vietnam since July 1968. He was i in Company A , 2nd Battalion, 25 th Infantry, 27 InfantryDivision. He received his basic ' training at Ft. Polk, La., and ' Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.He was born in Amarillo on ’ Nov. 16, 1947, He entered grade school in Quail, Horace Mann Junior High in Amarillo and graduated from the Eldon, Mo., High School in 1966 He was a member of the Quail Baptist I Church.Lester had been wounded twice during his tour of duty in Vietnam. He and Miss Karen Bunch of Eldon, Mo., were to have been married July 12,Survivors, in addition to his parents, include two brothers, Ronnie and Tommy of the family home; two sisters, Betty, of the home, and Mrs. Sue Gibsonof 2417 N. Lake; a n dgrandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Carter of Eldon and John R. Calcote of Wellington.Funeral arrangements am pending at N.S. Griggs Sons Funeral Home.
